Neighborhood Egg Hunts

Reach out to your neighbors by hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at your home! Neighborhood Host Packets will be available at the Family Welcome Centers beginning Sunday, February 24. Packets contain a guide, invitations, storytelling resource and follow-up cards.

This is what a 2012 host said about the Egg Hunt she hosted:

"I was nervous about doing it because I really invited people who I didn't know well. The people all lived near me, but none of them knew each other either, so I was nervous that it might be awkward. It ended up being so great. Everyone talked and had a lot of fun together. I had prayed a lot about it,a nd feel like God really answered my prayers around the event - even down to the details of figuring out how and who to invite."

Check out these photos from a 2012 Neighborhood Egg Hunt hosted in Shoreview by two
families from Calvary:

Meaningful Christmas Gifts for Kids

Are you thinking about getting a spiritually meaningful gift for your child for Christmas? Here are some of our favorite things!

The Action Bible  The most complete picture Bible ever! Featuring captivating up-to-date artwork that will connect with today's visually focused kids. 215 action packed Bible stories in chronological order. Illustrated by renowned Marvel and DC comic artist Sergio Cariello.

The Action Bible Devotional Looking for adventure? With eye-popping comic illustrations and a week's worth of activities for each Bible story, this one year devotional gives you real-life ways to meet with God and follow His spiritual adventure every day.

The Jesus Storybook Bible: "Every story whispers His name." This book is beautifully written and uniquely illustrated. It weaves the story of Jesus throughout the entire Bible - from start to finish!  It's a perfect bedtime read-aloud.

Jesus Calling for Kids: An awesome daily devotional for kids, written as if Jesus is speaking directly to them! (Check out the adult version for yourself too!)

Radio the World CD: Much of the worship music we do at Calvary Kids is from this great CD!

Bible Covers: Choose a unique cover for your child's Bible. A bible cover is handy for organizing all those papers that come home from church. And it helps kids distinguish their Bible from their friends' Bibles!

Kids Nativity Play Set Your kids will have hours of fun playing with this nativity set. It's a great way to introduce the story of Jesus' birth! Encourage kids to use the pieces to retell the story or to "act it out" while you read it.

Go Fish Music These singing dads are on a mission to make "great music for kids that won't drive parents bonkers!" Your kids know them and love them from Vacation Bible School. Check out all their CDs for some fun new music for your family!

Spiritual Parenting Class

It’s hard enough to train kids to behave, but good behavior isn’t what Jesus calls for in the Bible. He wants hearts and souls that are shaped in vibrant faith and love toward God and others. How can parents cultivate this in their children?
Spiritual Parenting introduces the simple but revolutionary concept that parents are, by the power of God’s Spirit, to obey and depend on God in order to create an environment God can use to beckon their children to Him.

Join us this fall to explore this biblical, innovative, fresh approach to parenting!

Spiritual Parenting Class

Dates:
October 17, October 24, November 7,
November 14, November 28, December 5

Time:
6:00- 8:00 pm

Place:
Calvary Church, Roseville Campus

Family Worship on September 2nd

Join us on Sunday, September 2nd for Family Worship! Kids ages 3 and up will join their families in the service to experience worship and intergenerational community.
(Programming will be available for kids 2 and under.)

Here are some tips to help make Family Worship a positive experience for you and for your kids:

  • Build anticipation by speaking positively to your children about the experience.
  • Pick up a Kids Worship Folder so your child can follow along with the service.
  • Allow plenty of time to get settled and to make a restroom stop before the service begins.
  • Sit towards the front of the Worship Center.  Kids who can see easily will feel more engaged in what is going on.
  • Introduce your kids to the people around you in the Worship Center.
  • Encourage your children to participate in giving by bringing their own small offering.
  • Model fully engaged worship so your kids can see your love for God.
  • Show grace to those around you who wiggle, talk too loudly or cry during the service.  Feel free to take a break if needed, but remember that worship is for everyone - wiggly children included!

Communion will be served during Sunday's service. If your child has trusted Christ as Savior, then he or she is welcome to participate. If your child hasn't made a commitment to Christ, this is a great time to start a conversation about faith. Either way, we encourage you to engage with your kids on this subject and invite their participation during this special time for our church family. We love it when kids join their parents during communion. Even if they aren't ready to partake of the elements, they can learn much through observation.

As you prepare for Sunday's service, here are some things to talk about with your kids:

  1.  Communion is a time to remember that Jesus died on the cross for our sins
  2.  The bread reminds us of Jesus' body.  The juice reminds us of the blood he shed on the cross.
  3.  Jesus asked His followers to "do this in remembrance of Me."3.  Read the account of    The Last Supper in Matthew 26.  Or check out this video...

If you attend the 9:00 service at the Roseville campus, this song will be part of the service. Take a moment to share it with your kids so that it will be familiar during the service.

We're looking forward to a great morning! See you Sunday!
